No more zero bar blues!

We can finally use our cell phones at home! It’s a miracle! Our cell coverage in Upton has always sucked, and most of time we could not make or receive calls, but I just solved that problem by picking up a Sprint Airave. The Airave connects to our network and acts like a mini cell tower – we now have a full 5 bars and my battery doesn’t drain nearly as fast as it used to. I usually had to leave my phone on the charger all the time because it sucked down the battery while constantly hunting for a signal – not anymore! It’s an amazing bit o’ kit, this thing….

Finally, after a year of insurance hassles, demo and reconstruction, and choosing paint, fabric, and carpet colors we are back in our bedroom (click here for pictures).  What an incredible hassle – it has been exactly one year since the ice damming that forced us to get a new roof and fix the insulation problems that caused the ice dams.  Hard to believe, eh?  Well, if you've ever had to deal with insurance companies you would understand.  But the sad part is that our insurance company is the one that Barb works for!  That was no help, by the way.

It sure has been a long time since I've posted.  Since last Fall – wow!  It's been a good winter so far, but I'm sure looking forward to Spring.  I only put about 150 miles on the Mini before I had to put it away and I sure miss driving it.

I'll try and post more this year – there's going to be lots happening!

Welcome to my new blog!

This is a test of Typepad . I’m seriously thinking of permanently moving my web site here because I’ve had so many problems with my crappy Internet service provider Charter – they are constantly bumping my server offline and I’m really getting tired of it.  And since my server is simply hosting my web site and storing my music and backups, maybe I should go a little greener and find a way to shut it down.
